Steve Darling MP votes for compensation for 6,930 WASPI women in Torbay

In a vote in Parliament yesterday, Liberal Democrat MP for Torbay, Steve Darling voted for and sponsored a “Ten Minute Bill” calling for compensation to WASPI women. It follows an independent report that found they had suffered an injustice due to a failure to properly inform them of pension age changes.
Steve said that they were proud to have sponsored the bill that aims to correct a “gross injustice”.
Steve went on to express their “immense disappointment” that Conservative and Labour MPs had failed to back it and promised to “keep fighting” until the 6,930 WASPI women in the local area got the compensation and justice they were owed.
Steve added:
“I have already heard from countless women in our area who have suffered due to this scandal.
“For Conservative and Labour MPs to fail to back these women is an immense disappointment. The Liberal Democrats will continue to stand up for the WASPI women at every turn and keep fighting until they get the justice that they deserve.
“I hope the government recognises the strength of feeling on this issue and allows time for a full bill to be introduced”
